| My oldest friend in the world, and fellow photographer, Chris Westcott and I went camping on his birthday two years ago. It was late October in the north Georgia mountains (The Cohutta Wilderness to be exact) and I must say, pretty darn cold. We got there fairly late in the afternoon and immediately began to search for downed limbs we could use as firewood. I guess that's where the problem began; the area was wet from a series of rainstorms earlier in the week. Nonetheless, we got as much wood as we could find and placed it in the fire pit. We looked through the materials we had with us and burned anything we could just to get the fire started. (If memory serves, we even burned a box of my daughter's baby wipes because we knew they would burn good). It was really cold that night but was one of my favorite memories of camping. I have posted several other pics from that day and the next. It might have been twenty degrees, but it was more fun than you can imagine. This image was taken just before we turned in for the night. |
