I Caught It All By Myself !!!! - Sunday May 03, 2009 04:49 pm
Everyone that knows me knows I have been a fisherman since I was ten years old. I love to fish.

So is it a surprise at all that I have passed on this love to my children? When Amanda was little, I used to take her fishing with me several times a year. (I think she was really more interested in hanging out or sunbathing but she always tried really hard.) Emily likes to go as well, as it turns out.

This photo was taken today after church, at the public fishing pier near Henry Neely Dam. I had sat there with Em for a while and helped her fish but then decided to fish some on my own. She asked if she could cast her worm out again and I said yes. She didn't make it that far off of the pier at all with her cast but it mush have been enough.

She said that her worm didn't feel right and I looked down and saw a Sunfish (Bream to us from the south) laying on the bottom with the hook in his mouth. I told her to reel it in and this is what she had on the end of her line.

This was the second fish she ever caught all by herself. (I didn't have a camera with the first one.)

The joy on her face was the greatest look. I just love it.

Note of irony: while we were there, the EMA announced over the loudest P.A system I have ever heard that the National Weather Service had just issued a Tornado warning for the next county over and that it was headed our way. When the man finished speaking, Emily turned to me and asked, "Was that GOD?" It was very funny. We left soon after and I believe the storm that approached was very severe.
