| The train passed my house this afternoon and it was going pretty fast. To me, that means that it wouldn't be switching off to another track for a good while. I have been wanting to capture the train at a certain place along the line so Emily and I jumped into the car to head it off. We got to the stop and I got ready. We had barely beaten the train to the spot. I pulled my camera out of the safety of its bag and waited in position. The train arrived and I squeezed the shutter button. Nothing!!! Again. Again nothing!!! The train passed by and I missed the shot. And then I noticed I had the camera on self-timer. AUGGGGGGHHH! So off we raced to get to another point that I had seen that would make a good second place to get that train. Got it. Didn't like it. It went this way for another stop. By then, I thought I would race ahead and get one as it crossed the road. I found a dirt road (not all that common in north Alabama, despite the image the media projects). I patently waited and shot ten or so frames. This was one of them. Oddly enough, I like it better than the way I was going to shoot it in the first place. The tough part was deciding between Black and White or Color. Artsy-Fartsy wins out yet again. |
