| There is nothing better to me than a drive through the country that meets with a pleasant surprise. I had one of those today when I found this scene. Emily and I went out after lunch in search of a few good shots. Around four or so, she had fallen asleep in the back seat and I was driving slower than usual to try and make sure she got a good nap. We were on the way home on a road I travel frequently when I spotted this gate just off the road. I have t wonder why it never registered all the other times I have gone this route seeking out scenic vistas. I guess you only get the shot when it is ready for you. The gate enters another late 19th century cemetery. There are grave stones dating back to just after the Civil War. Since Emily was asleep, I didn't get to spend much time scouting around, but I plan on making another trip soon. If you want to go just let me know. I'll wait for you. |
