| U.S. Highway 11, which runs nearly parallel to Interstate 59 through Alabama, is a landscape photographers dream. Yet, many people overlook it because the Interstate is so much more convenient. Long before I got into photography, I used to travel this road with friends as we burned up the roads searching for adventure (read trouble). I was always impressed by the beauty one you get north of Birmingham. From Trussville all the way to Tennessee, you will not find a road that is filled with more interesting objects to photograph. I love just driving down that road. Today, I carried my camera as I took Emily back to her Mom's. We always meet at a convenience store that is right on Highway 11 in Trussville. I also live directly on Highway 11 in Reece City (about 50 miles north) so I decided to just drive there and back looking for cool things to shoot. The day is cloudy and cold, but I saw a few things that looked great in the even lighting that cloud cover offers. This old house is near Springville. I pulled off the road and walked up and down the front of it grabbing images. I have a good many and they all turned out nice. I liked this one so much because you can see into the old house and out the back window. It was a metaphor for life. Someone can always look right through you and see beyond the facade you have built. Ok. enough of my philosophy. Go enjoy the image. |
