| I grew up in a time when men still traveled from town to town as stowaways on trains. I always admired a person that could live by his or her wits and still manage to live a somewhat full life. I'm sure I have over romanticized the hobo life in my own mind. Still, when you see them in movies, they always seem to be clever men and not really down and out. Their lives are lived more by choice than by circumstance. I guess that's why I take so many images of railroad tracks. I still think it is a cool life. Plus, I can't help wonder what lies down those tracks. I'll never know and it certainly intrigues me. maybe one day, when my kids are grown and I've long retired, I'll head down to those tracks and hop a train. I'll just let it take me wherever it is going. Then, I guess I'll find out for myself. |
